Worked over the weekend on your engine as I had nothing better to do.
• I removed the sump and flushed out the small amount of dirt.
• Cleaned the oil strainer.
• Removed all side casings and cleaned.
• Removed all pipe work.
• Removed cylinder head and barrels.
• Decoked the heads and checked for any ware on the big ends and piston rings and pistons.
• Removed and ground the valves in.
• I have used up some of my NOS gaskets that we had in stock as well as some seals.
• The engine block has been masked off and soda blasted.
• All of the side casings have been vapor blasted.
• All of the steel water pipes have been vapor blasted.
• Every part of the engine has been cleaned thoroughly in and out as i am paranoid about any grit.
• All nuts and bolts associated with the engine block have been cleaned.
• All of the above has been painted in original satin black and one of the side casings has been glossed black as original.
• The generator has been checked and cleaned and painted.
• The starter motor paint has been freshened up just enough to hide and chips.
• All of the oil feed pipe work has been cleaned and reconditioned to look like new.
My findings are as follows.
• The cylinders needed a very light honing.
• There was no wear in the pistons or rings and the carbon on top of the pistons was nice and soft showing that the engine had been running on the slightly rich side.
• There were 4 valves that had no tappet clearances on the middle 2 cylinders (hence the low readings I was getting when I pressure tested the engine).
• The cam shaft and followers are like new.
• I have swapped out the cam chain with an original new old stock one as I do not know what work it has done in the past.
• Everything looks incredibly good inside the engine.
I will be putting everything back together tomorrow and we may have the engine in the frame. Pics to come soon. the pictures of the plastics paintwork do not do it justice.

The engine is in the frame along with the radiator and oil cooler and a lot of other fittings, lots of the nuts and bolts had to be changed over for new as they were too rusty. carbs and cables are fitted. handlebars were bent but have been straightened and painted and fitted. pics to follow tomorrow. I need to pay my brother for the painting on the frame and all of the fittings and some labour costs. we work as fast and as efficiently as we can. could you send another £1000 to cover a chunk of the work.

I have attached a couple more pictures. Terry will send you an email this evening, on what needs doing.

Here is a list of parts to do as follows.
• Exhaust (clean header pipes).
• Replace silencer (dented, scratched and rusty).
• Footrest hangers (vapor blast, paint and polish).
• Rear light unit (clean and check).
• Wiring loom (clean check and rewrap).
• Swing arm (clean, paint).
• Swing arm dog bones (clean and paint).
• Brake lines and callipers (derust, test and paint).
• Forks (clean and paint).
• Front and rear plane black plastics (clean).
• Tank cap, sender, fuel tap (clean and test).
• Seat and tank fittings (clean and paint).
• Ignition coils (clean and test).
• Thermostat (clean and test).
• Wheels (paint clean and check bearings.
Quote for the above if all goes well would be in the range of £2500.
Some more work that has been carried out already as follows.
• Front fork holders and head stock bearings fitted.
• Head light fitted.
• Carbs fitted.
• Air box fitted.
• Handle bar controls fitted.
• Cables fitted.
• Clutch oil line fitted.
• Many small brackets, clips and other small parts fitted.
Here are some of the costs for the major parts as follows.
• Shotblast frame and all steel fittings, acid etch prime and powder coat full gloss black £640.
• Full fairing repair and repaint to show standard £660.
• Fuel tank shot blast and clean internals and leak test and paint to show standard including decals £720.
• Carb strip and ultrasonic clean and renew float bowl seals and float needles and repaint £320.
• Vapor blast radiators and clean and leak test. £120.
• Work carried out on engine including painting £840.
• Recondition rear suspension unit. £180.
If you wish to steer away from the costs of show standard then we will be happy to accommodate any other standard that you require but it will deflate the quality of the work that we have already completed. we never drop our standards on safety equipment such as braking system and lights. the costs quoted are only quotes on what I can visibly see from the externals, I do not know what the internal condition of parts will be.

Sorry for delay. need a clear head to give good quote. estimated at £4040. this is the nearest I can get to a true quote.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, my budget will not go to an additional £4000. I can go to approximately £2000 to £2500. What would your suggestions be?

After moving some funds around, I am able to meet your earlier quote of £4040. I will not be able to fund anything above this cost. Hope this is ok with you.
