Metal art

I always had a love for art since my childhood and school days. Through out my engineering career I have always observed the colour and texture of the waste materials that are produced while manufacturing parts for customers. For example when some metals are turned on a lathe they turn electric blue. Bronze and brass can turn blue green. Plastics produce either ribbons or chips. For most companies this material is just thrown away.

A few years ago a friend from New Zealand introduced me to the techniques used by the South Sea Islanders who colour and pattern different types of metal. Using the colours and textures of materials as well as my own techniques, I am able to produce my own unique style of art work.

Over the years I have produced sculptures, wall hangings, lamps and bowls. Some are abstract, but a lot are based on my love of the natural world – butterflies, fish, insects, birds and plants. My unique style has allowed my work to stand out and I have received commissions from a number of high profile people.
